i already said it, but he’s not very social in general, friendships are even more uncommon 💀💀

One of the few i can think of that he has a (platonic) relationship with is Nazali, however he prefers to linger in the background while Julian carries the convo.

Another is Khamgalai, they shared similar values about nature/wildlife/etc and were fairly fond of eachother. He probably took up to her more than usual because she treated him like he was a normal person, not some strange amalgamation of human and animal.

On the other hand, he doesn’t like Asra’s parents all that much. Another case of not trusting that they worked for Lucio, not necessarily him disliking *them*. A bit more uneasy around them considering they made Lucio’s arm, something very personal and iconic.

SWEETEST OLD LADY IN EXISTENCE

Her handbag is absolutely enormous. Why? Because it's full of secrets, MC! Okay in all seriousness it's actually full of lollies and stolen napkins and spare change and yarn balls and her calendar with all her grandbabies' birthdays on it and probably a couple jars of soup

There are grandkids. So, so many grandkids. It doesn't matter what barriers there are, there are grandkids. Portia will find a way. Even if you have to pick some up off the street

Muriel:

This man's back problems are unfathomable

You would think he'd have become grumpier in his old age, but getting old morphed him into an even bigger softie than before. Goes to the docks often to give the kids there candy and sweaters he's made for them (he crochets a LOT now)

The children living at the docks adore him. Whenever you go with him to visit you see him dishing out hugs and pats on the head and it probably sends you into cardiac arrest (again) (rip MC)

He built two wooden lawn chairs so you and him could sit in front of the hut and sip tea and do other old people things

Even more of an animal whisperer in his old age, birds land on his shoulders, young deer curl up on his lap, and you've seen bears politely sit next to him when he's fallen over in the woods and can't get up

You think it's because he's spent his whole life caring for the woods and now it's caring for him back

The two of you visit Khamgalai a lot more nowadays, just to catch up (and you can relate to her more now, you oldies)

He has a wooden walking stick which sits next to the door

Lucio:

Every five minutes he remembers aging is real and looks at you with the most shocked look before going "I'M OLD." in the most despaired voice

Owns 576 skincare products (they don't work, he's literally like 80)

He's still kind of entitled but he's less of an ass nowadays. I mean, don't get me wrong, he hasn't changed much, but he's certainly a lot wiser than he once was

You're not sure what his father looked like. However, now that he's older you can see that he really takes after his mother Morga. I mean, he always had, but especially now. This revelation makes you all the more attracted to him (which you aren't quite sure how to feel about)

Tells complete strangers not to end up like him if they even remotely resemble him when he was younger

I promise not all of these are gonna be Disney themed lol I'm just a Muriel simp (if you couldn't tell) and when I originally came up with the Disney princess idea Muriel as Hercules started rotting a hole through my brain so here we are! Also, we're gonna get some side character/familiar action here as well, yay!

Let's face it bro is the villain in every route but his own and the cynical, "better than thou" personality that they both share just fits so well

Plus this version of Hades is a Satan analog who makes binding deals with others for his own benefit, and doesn't that sound like a certain devil we all know?

Not to mention both of them are trying to escape the realms they've been assigned & make themselves god king of everything

Morga - Phil

And now we get to the fun characters outside the M6

I will admit, Phil is a lot nicer than Morga, but jaded older mentor figure trying to make up for failed prodigies fits

Plus, Morga was Muriel's mentor in his route

I feel like both also fit into the role of proud parent figure by the end of their respective stories

And both are disapproving of their pupil's romances lol

Inanna - Pegasus

Admittedly Inanna is a bit more no-nonsense than Pegasus is, but she can still be goofy and fun when she wants to

Incredibly supportive of their human companions, important assets in battle, their appearance started the main character on a path for a better and more fulfilling life

Not much else to say here it just works

Vlastomil and Volta - Pain & Panic

Honestly idk if I can fit Vulgora and Valdemar into the Hercules narrative, but at least I could get these two in here

Vlastomil is Pain and Volta is Panic; I realize both could probably fit into Panic's role as they are the more timid and mild mannered courtiers, but I've chosen things this way because Volta is a little bit more flighty and afraid to commit crimes like Panic, where as Vlastomil is a bit more bold (when he's allowed to be) and better fits Pain

There's also the whole shape shifting deal they can all do

Khamgalai - Zeus

This one.....is a bit weird ngl, I'm still not quite sure about it

Honestly this is the ONLY time I will conflate someone so near & dear to my heart with Zeus

Mostly this all fits into the "detached/secret family member" archetype

And....I mean Zeus in this narrative at least is actually very kind & caring, as well as a proud dad which is similar enough to Khamgalai to work ok

Plus they both act as a guide for the main character when they're trying to find/drifting away from the plot a little bit

My MC is also a self insert, and for as long as I can remember I've always identified the most with Meg, more than any of the other Disney women

My favorite mc, Marsom Montathasson, for my favorite boy, Muriel 💚

I actually met my husband while in an rp for the arcana. He was playing Muri and I was playing Mars. I knew I wanted to romance Muri if it was allowed and luckily we got shoved together. All our friends in the group kept telling us to get together already with how much we would flirt openly. Then he moved across the ocean to be with me and now were married :) With that said Mars has a very special place in my heart. We also had a modern rp along with the og setting so thats what the last 4 are from.

The coon is Mars' familiar Voroot (romanization of Ворует). Its a scene from the modern rp actually. Mars is an ice centered mage so he works in his aunts ice cream parlor which happens to be next door to a flower shop owned by a certain Khamgalai. Bet you cant guess who works there :P. Vors a lil gremlin for food so after getting thrown out of the parlor for stealing ice cream while Mars tried to fix a freezer, he ran over to the flower shop. Muri being Muri let him eat all the berry plants then offered his stale bread cold fish stick sandwich. Vor wasnt having it lol.

What's the first thing someone sees looking at them?

the first thing someone might notice is his intense gaze or the way he slouches or sits with his feet on chairs. he has some mannerisms that would earn him some looks

How do they respond to the touch?

this man is touch STARVEDDDD but it really really depends on the person. if it's a friend or love interest he'll melt into it but if it's like, Valdemar, his bones are gonna go cold

How do they feel about their appearance?

he takes pride in his appearance and carefully curates his outfits to compliment it. he's kind of unaware of how much charm he has at times because he's never seen himself as deserving of love, but fashion is a hobby of his anyway and he does it because it pleases him

How does your OC handle or view the concept of death and afterlife?

that really depends on at what point in the game we're talking about here... I guess the over view is he isn't sure what awaits him in the afterlife. he's seen ghosts firsthand and the souls of the damned- but he's also seen Khamgalai in the magical realms. even ghosts can differ greatly from each other, like take Morga vs the plague victims (not counting Lucio because i do not believe he is a ghost. he is merely separated from his body, he never properly died). so he's deduced that your afterlife must depend on some mysterious force he can't possibly identify, and that it might have something to do with the religious practices that person believed in. with that said, he still isn't sure which religion he's settled on. though, we can deduce he believes in more than one god

at this point his belief system is just vaguely "The Arcana do the trick just fine but other religions are very compelling as well". he's pretty open to anything

What is your OCs Guilty Pleasure?

he likes to be SELFISH. sometimes hes tired of playing nice and trying to get people to like him. sometimes he just wants to be an attention whore. sometimes he wants to be worshiped. sometimes he just likes to be greedy or only focus on himself or whatever

If your OC were to invent a holiday, what would they celebrate and what does it say about them?

oh if nobody has invented 14th century earth day yet it would be Danny. definitely some kind of nature festival- he's a huge nature lover! identifying plants and going mushroom hunting and such

How does their body react to stress/crisis?

he definitely nervous stims. this can range from simple things like rotating his rings or they can he more intense like biting his fingers. it's self soothing. sometimes he may rock or go silent

What is a lie your OC tells themselves, and how does it shape their actions?

hes like. convinced he can't possibly be wrong. convinced everyone's out to get him at times. this plays a lot into his rejection sensitivity and he'll walk on eggshells to keep someone around- and snap when he believes they're going to abandon them

What motivates them to keep going?

honestly he just wants to prove everyone wrong

If your OC had to sacrifice something precious to achieve their greatest goal, what would they be willing to give up?

his greatest goal... I guess personal goals aside his goal in most routes is to save the world. and in that case he would risk his life (and has)

How do they react when they are betrayed or let down by someone they trust?

VIOLENTLYYYYY and you might not even realize it. he might keep it hidden from you. but there will be signs. you might not see the screaming or crying as his faith in you slowly dies and his heart breaks... you might just see him recede. get quieter. laugh less. but, he'll try to take it with dignity. and then throw theeeee biggest fit in private. he can't quite bring himself to abandon someone, though

Which Point of time would your OC time travel to and what does it say about them?

oh he'd love to see both the past and the future but he's more concerned about the past. there's so much that's been lost to time... he'd love to collect evidence to fill in some of the gaps

What's a rumor or misconception your OC would have?

he thinks crabmen are actual crabs

What's the most horrifying thing your OC has ever seen, how did it change them?

VALDEMAR'S TRUE FORM. and he takes it surprisingly well in the moment but it keeps him up at night. the static ringing in his ears... the confusing form flashing against his vision when he closes his eyes... it makes him feel so small. like there's so much he still doesn't know about the world

The Arcana HCs: What M6 get from their parents

Julian

For someone who's never claimed to be a sailor, he sure spends a lot of time at sea and dreaming about future boats

It's much less surprising when he starts talking about the few hazy memories he has of being the oldest son of merchant parents. His early childhood was spent playing above and below decks

Which explains his specific brand of wanderlust pretty well. Instead of it being a boredom with the mundane or a fear of commitment, it's this deep sense of himself as a global citizen

He's happiest in marketplaces and finding his family among odd groups of people from all over the world, what can he say??

Not to mention his "if I can't find what I need here, maybe I just need to try somewhere else" mentality when it comes to problem solving. Need more education? Time to visit a new country!

It would make sense for his natural aptitude with learning new languages, forming quick connections, and creating collaborations to have come from fairly successful merchant parents as well

Whether that's also where he got his godawful cooking skills from, or whether that's just a "him" thing, remains up for debate

Asra

You learned it pretty quickly after meeting them - you know exactly where that constant, almost insatiable curiosity comes from

That, and the tendency to have a new thought, forget the current conversation, and trail off into disjointed mumbles as said thought gets rapidly unpacked and explored from several angles

If Salim is who Asra gets his brain from, Aisha is where he got his spirit. That stubborn hope and determined dedication to care for who he loves? He got that from the women who looked the Devil dead in the eye and told him to leave her child alone or else

You can also see a lot of the way Asra relates to you in the way their parents relate to each other. It's that easy, intuitive comfort of shedding pretenses from the get go and embracing uniqueness

Why bother trying to show off what you're good at, when you could try something new together instead? Sure they could give you a tour of their gate - or Salim could give his experimental magic a test run now that you're around to help out!

Not to mention how all three of them seem to know healing magic

And they all love a good cup of tea

Nadia

She could spend hours telling you exactly how unlike her sisters and parents she is, but let's be real. Satrinava genes are strong and you could pick one out of a crowd any day

The intelligence levels she couldn't hide if she tried? Check

The absolute perfection of her fashion choices? Check

The habit she can't turn off of looking not just at you but through you with a kind of perceptive, piercing gaze that has no intention of telling you what she's figuring out about you? Also check

(Seriously, every member of her family does it nonstop and at this point you're wondering if you should just give up all your secrets)

The tendency to approach any problem or conflict by openly stating her own opinion/perspective first? Check

The down-to-earth openmindedness that you have to actually talk to her to discover? Check. Nazali seems to be the one exception, but you're pretty sure that's after years of traveling around

The immediate need to take responsibility for whatever's going on, or more accurately, going wrong? Check

Somehow always smells nice? Check

Muriel

There was a lot about Muriel that you thought was "just Muriel" until you made that trip South together and saw all the subtle ways he became more grounded in himself

Nobody's concerned about taking up too much space in vast tundra. No wonder he always seemed to feel cramped

It also seemed a bit counterintuitive for such a minimalist furnace of a man to own a veritable pile of furs until you walked into Khamgalai's hut. He might not remember it, but he probably spent his first few years wrapped and dressed in them

Not to mention his tendency to fill his space with earthy, herbal smells to the point of carrying pouches of it with him. There were dried foraged plants all over the rafters there

What eventually came to be one of his strongest ties, though, was his craftsmanship. How someone who disliked frivolous things did so much detail was beyond you, until you saw those tapestries

And, of course, the remnants of years of nomadic movement in his need to spend hours at a time outside every day, keeping a steady pace through the forest to assure himself that all is well

Portia

This didn't spring out at you from her the way it did from her brother, but Portia has a capacity for dramatics that she does a deviously excellent job of downplaying

Sure, she seems considerably better adjusted and grounded than he does, and sure, her tendency to compensate for the unique needs of her loved ones shows up in being hypercompetent

But you're certain at this point that at least one of her parents was a hell of an actor/dramatist. You've watched how easily she can put on whatever face she needs to accomplish what she wants

Not to mention the love of stories and art of storytelling. You know you're at a Devorak gathering when both you and half the other people in the area are totally drawn in to a fond memory retelling

You can also see the makings of traveling merchants in her job as Vesuvia's ambassador. It's almost scary how easily she makes herself at home spending months at sea, going place to place

And both scary and awe-inspiring when she finds herself locked in negotiations. Whether with a marketplace stall owner, or a stubborn noble with an import she wants, she's indomitable

Lucio

Honestly, beyond their physical similarities, it's pretty hard at first to see all the ways in which Lucio takes after his mother

They're both such strong products of their environment. Morga is stern, stonefaced, and (to put it bluntly) stingy, but she takes accountability beyond her means and always faces hard choices

Lucio is the opposite. Loud, expressive, flamboyant, unconcerned with discipline or rules, terrified of hard choices or accountability, and (when he's not under duress) generous to a fault

The first place you saw it? Their dismissiveness, unfortunately

As soon as it's not something they understand or relate to, they both lose interest in talking about it and tend to be quick to brush it aside, often without pausing to consider other's feelings first

Not to mention how quickly both of them jump to using aggression to express themselves. You can tell it's got a whole lot more to do with how intensely they feel things than any bad intentions

But the trait you learn they share most is what you take the longest to notice: quiet, unassuming protection as a subconscious love language. They'll always keep watch when you're vulnerable

anyways for decoration @the-arcana-archive had some really good pics on the background of Muriel's hut at the start and at the end of his route, at the end we can see a tapestry from the Kokkhuri tribe hanging over the fireplace, some pelts and herbs drying by the fire

there's also some pots and pans added in the background as well as a lovely looking chair and stool. Compare this to before when it was lookign very.... empty. Warm, but empty

Of course, assuming you know that imagery already and are instead looking for some new additions or you're considering adding small things before the route occurs I think the imagry of things hanging on branches is always tons of fun. I do think he probably celebrates the winter solstice, but mostly out of appreciation for the longer nights and to give asra (and possibly MC depending on time) presents I can't help but imagine that he argues he doesn't expect anything back, or that he doesn't need presents but he gets really happy when he's given a gift even something small like candles, which he probably uses to decorate the hut a little until it's entirely melted down into a puddle of wax and nice smells, so candles are 100% good option.

Personally I'm kinda fond of the idea of hanging herbs or trinkets, mostly because I can't help but imagine those are things he might've picked up from asra whether it be how to make them when they were kids or little gifts they've given him. I really like the image of crystal multi-sided beads that catch the fire light and scatter it across the room. He doesn't hang it up all the time but on what he deems as "special occasions"

Probably also hangs up a lot of really nice smelling herbs by the fire to dry them out and use them. If your MC or the character you're shipping Muriel —or the character Muriel is currently closest to if you aren't shipping—if they have a favorite, or associated herbal smell I can't help but imagine Muriel collecting and hanging a bundle of that herb by the fire to dry it out and gift it (In this case, I can't help but imagine Nadia & some dried lavender).

(idk how you'd decorate with dried oranges unfortunately lol so I can't give any ideas there.)

But looking at wall decorations specifically, I think a look of layering tapestries along the wall kinda like the way that Khamgalai did it in her hut could also be really pretty. It doesn't have to be tapestries, it could be capes or cloaks or scarves instead!
